While Thayne's away, the Elite Circle will play. And their version of playing isn't exactly on the same level of a young child on a playground. No, their type of play is more like...chaotic mischief.
It had been decided, against Thayne's final say, that St. Mungo's needed to be taken over in some way. Destroying it wasn't necessary. But they needed medical care given by the best of Healers, something they couldn't get on their own. They could use Cullyn, pay Healers under the table, even threaten their lives if need be, but with a whole slew of battle plans taking place in the near future, they would need more than a few Healers to fix their injured soldiers of The Darkness.
With the Dark Lord off chasing down his little brother to rescue him from the undead, his closest allies had time to meet and plan behind his back. Their usual meeting spot, the underground of Young & Wicked, was obviously not the best place for this discussion, so they changed their rendevous lair to The Leaky Cauldron. It had been a decent enough spot for their little get-togethers before; the public didn't suspect a thing because their meetings were always so out in the open. Little did these onlookers know that they had always brought along a little secret, speaking of nonsense like weddings and new pets aloud while whisperings went on inside their minds.
Graisyn and Crispin were the first to arrive, making it look like they were meeting friends to talk about their new engagement. Their fingers intertwined as they took their seats at a table in the corner of the bar, many eyes were suddenly on them. People were suspicious of the Aynsworths, their power and wealth intimidating even without knowing the real truth behind them. But Grai was one of the more public faces of the family and people were infatuated with the bling on her left ring finger and the fact that she had changed out her usual slutty wardrobe for a conservative white dress, something borrowed from her older sister who despised showing any skin that wasn't necessary.
Replaced on Graisyn's normally smug expression was a genuine happy smile and a vibe of positivity that made her simply glow...though that would all be different if she actually knew Thayne's sudden departure wasn't just for 'business'. Not long after they ordered drinks, firewhisky for Crispin and a water for Grai, a young man came over, waving a camera in front of them. "Picture for The Daily Prophet?" He asked with a slightly pleading nervous smile.
"Quickly. We're expecting guests." She said as she rested her head lovingly on Crispin's shoulder, hands clasped in his as she smiled sweetly at the camera. Crispin barely had time to adjust, getting in a crooked grin before the flash went off and blinded them both. The photographer bowed his head in silent thanks and then scooted away, leaving them alone once more.
Vivyan was the next to arrive; not a part of Thayne's Elite Circle, but she was their little secret. Everyone having skin-to-skin contact underneath the table gave them a direct link to her powers, which easily allowed them to keep their super secret plans silent. "You look beautiful today, Graisyn." She commented as she took a seat next to her, not even greeting her future brother-in-law. Having been inside his mind and seeing the mess that he truly was, she preferred to avoid any social interaction with him whenever she could. At least her fianceé, Vallis, had a simple mind and simple thoughts. Being in his head was actually quite relaxing, even falling asleep most nights by listening to him think about their future: picturing their children, home, normal jobs. He had learned how to make her happy, or at least he was trying to, and that's what really mattered in the end.
Vallis arrived with McKinley in tow, the expression on his face weary. McKi was a handful, the proper definition of a crazy, stalker fangirl. Actually getting her to the meeting without Thayne there was clearly difficult. She had only showed up after many bribes, the one that got her being a rumored blackmail photo of the Dark Lord starting fully clothed and ending with a bare-naked butt shot. This photo didn't actually exist, unless Ivie had some psycho collection they didn't know about, but the important thing was she showed up and with some persuading, could take down anyone they asked her to. Her skills with a wand were more than terrifying and shocking for such a young woman, especially coming from a long line of normal Healers.
"Oh look, the freak came out to play." McKi smirked at Vivyan as she sat across the table from her. Thayne kept no secrets from his Elite Circle, including the previous events of Vivyan's failed attempt at an Aynsworth Empire hostile takeover more than a year ago. The fact that Vivyan had been so deadset on killing Thayne, and God forbid, McKinley's precious papa Carlysle, was something she would never let go.
"Nice to see you, too, Miss Mendenhall. Glad to know you weren't too busy screwing some random man before slitting his throat and watching him choke to death on his own blood. Your mischief almost made the front page of the paper today." Vivyan stared her down, warning her that she was messing with the wrong person. One touch from the 'freak' and she'd be in St. Mungo's needing stitched from top to bottom. Or maybe that vile tongue of her's needed ripped out. That might teach her a lesson. But her retort shut the girl up quickly and the group turned the subject to the newest Aynsworth engagement.
Vallis took Vivyan's gloved hand in his, fighting a smile to hide the fact that he noticed she was wearing her wedding ring without him mentioning it. Sure, it was over the glove, but she seemed to be settling into the fact that she was getting married whether she was ready for it or not. And, after several Obliviates, she stopped mumbling another boy's name in her sleep. Ashby; no doubt the pure and innocent cousin of Thayne's supposed-to-be wife. Apparently every Aynsworth had a problem with commitment... All except Lyna and Fynn, of course.
The eldest daughter of Carlysle Aynsworth had fallen hard for her betrothed and ended up pregnant before they were even engaged. Then news hit daddy's ears that his daughter and her love had somehow seen the light and wanted nothing to do with his plans. It wasn't long after that he killed the man who had corrupted his second-born, though not able to correct her mistake of having a child so young. He labeled her a failure shortly before her 18th birthday, meaning she was not allowed a piece of the Aynsworth Empire and the binding family tattoo would never touch her neck. He saw it as punishment, but the only thing that she mourned over was the death of her baby's father. And she later went on to do the same over a wasted life, being told she was forever banned from leaving the manor or she would be killed on the spot.
And Fynn, well, he seemed to be matched with his soulmate. Only he wasn't as stupid as Lyna. He was an airhead, along with his lover, but he would never turn on his family. He was useless to them most of the time, but the amount of support he showed them was unrivaled. He was like their one person cheerleading squad and given the chance, he would take a blast of green light to the chest for any of them.
More coming soon...
