Young & Wicked is a bar owned and created by the genius mind of Thayne Aynsworth. He took a seemingly poor investment and turned it into something mind-blowing and productive. This bar/inn is the one place followers of The Darkness can gather to mingle, plot destruction, and hide without setting off any suspicions. To the passersby in Knockturn Alley, this rundown, moldy, ivy-covered shop is just a hangout spot for misfits who everyone hated in school. Little do they know that the ivy is alive, the building is much bigger on the inside, and the walls are buzzing with secrets that would make any simple-minded witch or wizard faint upon hearing.
Starting with the outside, you'll see a wall covered from top to bottom with ivy, which pours out of cracks in the eroded stone. It's the building's highest form of security. This ivy has travelled from Italy to settle into this very building and now lives to serve the dark side by keeping the place safe. Initial entry into the building is given on Saturdays, the only day of the week Thayne shows up at Young & Wicked unless something important is going on. He's there to observe the initiation of new members of the bar and hear confirmations from the ivy that the new folks are actual followers of The Darkness.
And to dissolve the look of confusion on your face, the ivy does speak, in its native language of Italian. Initiation happens as follows: A small prick of your finger draws the tiniest amount of blood. You then place this bleeding finger against the wall and your blood is pulled into the stone, creating a file for you as a permanent member of Y&W. Along with creating a file, this tiny drop of blood reveals to the ivy your whole life story, along with your deepest and darkest thoughts. Trying to hide something from them is useless. This initiation ends with the ivy wrapping around your hand, its touch granting it the ability to speak to you inside your mind. In the voice of the person you trust the most, it speaks angelic Italian, either welcoming you into the establishment or telling you that your life is about to end for being a traitor.
Traitors, and anyone who first tries to enter this building without consent from Thayne and the ivy, are ripped limb from limb and pulled into the stone wall where their remains will stay rotting forever. Sounds painful, but it's actually the quickest way to die. The dismemberment is known to be a faster death than being shot by a muggle gun at point blank.
After being initiated...if you're still alive, the large iron front door, also operated by the ivy, will swing open, allowing you to walk in to what is always assumed to be a tiny bar, since the outside of the place is so narrow and only one story. But after the initial shock, members soon see that the bar area alone is so vast that it could easily fit 350 people at just its tables. To the right is the service desk for the inn where guests can sign in and stay for a minimal fee. The stairs to the inn are hidden away, a wall covering them that can easily be walked through if access to the inn rooms is permitted to that person. Aside from two floors of inn rooms, the employee rooms are on the fourth floor, a safe place where the employeed of Young & Wicked are forced to stay.
The employees hired by Thayne Aynsworth are usually young folks who have lost everything or never had anything at all. Their faith is quickly stored in him when he gives them a job and a place to stay, and in return, all he asks for is their sworn allegiance in the form of an Unbreakable Vow. It may seem like an unfair trade, but when you've got nothing, you're willing to do anything to get back at least a little bit of security in your daily life.
You'll see these employees bartending at the long, polished bar along the back wall or waiting tables, cleaning, performing extra security measures, or even upstairs working in the inn. All of this is done by manual labor, magic prohibited inside Young & Wicked; several spells put over the place to ensure that this rule is not broken.
Rumors of an underground lair below the bar have been spreading like wildfire amongst members only after three months of the place being open. The truth of this gossip hasn't been confirmed by anyone, but that may be because anyone visiting this secret little club has sworn to never breathe a word of it, punishment severe if anyone were to break their word.
